I am a London based Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher who offers a flowing yoga class, which also incorporates longer-held poses, pranayama and meditation. My aim is to fully re-energise, re-balance and restore you for life off the mat. My yoga teaching is accompanied by music (if appropriate) and the use of Sanskrit terms in a non-intrusive manner. I completed my teacher training with the Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher, Claire Missingham and was honoured to be a mentor and assessor on Claire's 2012-13 Teacher Training programme. I am a registered yoga teacher 200 hours with Yoga Alliance and am fully accredited and insured. I regularly attend classes, workshops and courses to extend and deepen my yoga knowledge with renowned yoga teachers such as Jason Crandell, Alessandra Pecorella, Mercedes Nogh-Sieff, Kate Walker and Seane Corn.
When I found yoga, or more truthfully yoga found me, it felt as if all the different skills I had developed during my life had been gently nudging and guiding me to the yoga pathway. It has been as if my life has come full circle…
My cosmopolitan upbringing in Trinidad, West Indies - a melting pot and rich fusion of differing cultures, beliefs, ways of life, foods, tropical scenery and weather; an enriched childhood for which I am always grateful.
Then my training and career as a Chartered Physiotherapist that gave me the anatomical and physiological knowledge that has so helped in the safe approach to the asanas and pranayamas. That knowledge of the human body has also aided safe asana alignment and practice tailored to the individual. Teaching was fundamental to my physiotherapy practice, both in individual as well as group situations. I have been able to apply these skills to teaching within a yoga context.
And finally, my role as a wife and mother of two grown up children has been a true blessing. Having a family is full of twists and turns and certainly teaches one true joy, acceptance, living in the moment.
I feel very blessed in my life and to have found yoga with all its dimensions, which I liken to the final and essential cog in the wheel of life. Yoga is an ever-learning art, so many facets, that as yet I feel to be scratching at the surface. That is one of the fascinations of yoga.
I had been practicing yoga for a number of years and found I was particularly drawn to the creativity of Vinyasa Flow Yoga, a beautiful fusion of the flow of Ashtanga yoga together with the alignment points of Iyengar yoga. I regularly attend workshops and courses to extend and deepen my yoga knowledge.
My deep gratitude goes to my wonderful teachers and fellow yogis who have inspired my practice and teachings. There is no doubt that yoga is at the centre of things for me and I feel humbled, thrilled and excited to be able to pass on this wonderful gift of yoga, authentically rooted within the Krishnamachrya lineage, yet in an encompassing way. I am passionate about staying true to the deep-rooted and rich traditions of yoga.
